ANSPROF
(ANSPROF version 5 with GUI)
ANSPROF is the ultimate application-centric performance analysis tool for the IBM System i previously known as AS/400 and iSeries.
- What should be done to the operating system to make the application run faster?
- How should the application code be improved to make it run faster?
ANSPROF provides both a common interface and a set of analytical reports for performance data collections created by IBM tools and APIs. ANSPROF can help analyze and improve OPM/ILE applications, as well as applications written in Java, including applications designed to execute in the IBM WebSphere environment. ANSPROF as a tool is extremely flexible: it has an open relational data model, all ANSPROF queries are IBM Query Manager queries that can easily be modified, and all ANSPROF-generated graphs and reports are supplied as MS Excel forms, easily modifiable too.
Since all different types of performance data can be requested using a single command and collected into a single library, ANSPROF is ideal for remote application performance analysis, i.e. analysis conducted by a person having no online access to the server used to run the application. ANSPROF Version 4 includes system monitor for flexible policy-based detection and profiling of active resource consumers.
ANSPROF is packaged as the IBM i licensed program 4F44ANS and licensed for the number of processors allocated to the partition where it is installed.
A detailed ANSPROF case study manual can be found in the "Documentation" section.
